Echo tapped the wooden handle to wake the deep bass notes of the rustic box. From the moss, Jive tilted his head to sample the high, sweet soprano of the bleeding hearts. These floral songs are always most alive in the spring, vibrating through every petal and stem. The birds stayed perfectly still, waiting for the magenta clematis to reach its final, beautiful note.

The Story Behind the Shot
I can’t quite remember where this weathered, rustic box came from. Its aged wood provided the perfect contrast for the vibrant flowers gathered right from our property. I carefully arranged a diagonal flow of punchy magenta peonies and Niobe clematis, softened by a sprig of white bleeding hearts and the sweet, woodland phlox that floods our woods with scent each year. Capturing both the red-bellied woodpecker and the catbird in a single frame—each perfectly "posed"—felt like a rare gift. At AzarÉl Greetings, our theme is that nature overflows with the grandeur of God; His workmanship is as evident in the delicate design of a flower as it is in the flight and song of a bird.
