Rusty red and rumbling, the stepside pickup chugged down the lane. The floral arrangement overflowed with a riot of tulips, daffodils, pussy willows, and trailing vinca. "Pip," a tiny downy woodpecker, escorted it. "Chirp," the chipping sparrow, perched jauntily on the hood. Petals scattered like confetti. Where exactly were they headed?  What magical realm awaited their flowery cargo?

The Story Behind the Shot
I love the classic Americana of a little red pickup truck. When I found this vintage 1950s Tonka on eBay, the $110 price tag felt like quite a bit to spend on a photography prop—but looking at the results, it was worth every penny! This little red pickup has worked hard in my backyard scenes. Before it became a spring florist’s delivery truck, it has spent busy seasons hauling pumpkins, carrying a fresh-cut family Christmas tree, and even heading out on a summer camping trip.

The "posies" you see here are a true gift from my own garden and woods. The stars of the show are the red tulips with yellow fringes, captured on their very last day of beauty. I tucked them in with fresh daffodils, vinca, and moss, creating a vibrant, living arrangement that the local birds couldn't resist investigating (with the help of a few "secret snacks" hidden among the stems).
