A warm aroma rose from the old copper pot. The first sweet alyssum of spring was brewing. Sweetened with natural honey, it was much eagerly awaited on cool April mornings. Pekoe gripped the spout. He peered into the steam of white petals. Were the flowers ready to pour? He waited for the first drop to spill.

The Story Behind the Shot
After a long, cold winter, I always find myself irresistibly drawn to the garden center. While spring is still weeks away from the outdoors, its colors and fragrance thrive inside the greenhouse. For this shot, I chose the bright red petals of 'Fabio' tulips, fringed with yellow, and the brilliant blue of lithodora to provide the vibrant palette I love. To create the scene, the flowers remained in their pots, hidden carefully behind weathered logs and lush green moss to give the appearance of a hidden woodland garden.
