The Story Behind the Shot
This scene is a rare moment where family heritage and nature perfectly align. The centerpiece is a blanket box handcrafted by my Uncle Marvin. He meticulously modeled it after a chest he saw in Williamsburg. It's a labor of love held together by wooden pegs and finished with hardware beaten from nails. Resting atop it is a patchwork dolly blanket stitched by my great-great-aunt in the early 1900s. The crowning touch was the arrival of a cardinal—a famously skittish bird that vanishes at the first click of a shutter. To capture such a timid visitor against these cherished family heirlooms makes this shot truly special.
