The Story Behind the Shot

Capturing this quiet moment required a bit of strategy to outsmart the local robins. Since they are much larger than bluebirds, they tend to gobble up all the mealworm treats. I moved the feeding platform to an alternate deck to give the bluebird family some peace. To set the stage, I wanted a bouquet that echoed the birds' stunning natural colors. I called Rick and Jon Morrissey at Rich Mar Florist (Allentown PA). They created a wild arrangement of vibrant blues and oranges. I added a weathered log and some moss to keep the look organic. With a few mealworms on the wood, the bluebird parents finally landed for their perfect portrait.
