"Home Sweet Home"
Scribblings
Clyde and Flossie were spring shopping for a home. They checked the roof. They checked the interior. Would their brood of babies like this one?
The Story Behind the Shot
"Home Sweet Home" features a pair of bluebirds perched on a rustic birdhouse my dad made as an 'any bird' house. I was delighted when this pair, whom I named Clyde and Flossie (after Brian's grandparents), spent a good deal of time inspecting it. Bluebirds were rare on our property at that time, and I held my breath hoping they would choose to stay. While they ultimately rejected the house—likely because they knew the perch made it unsafe for their family—I walked away with this beautiful, rustic reminder of my dad. It remains one of my most cherished captures.
